Amity by Aonochi A dynamic and beautiful dancer, Amity's style is best described as Classic Oriental fused with Modern Egyptian. Her dance background includes studies in Cairo as well as Ballet, Jazz, Modern, Flamenco, Ballroom, Hip Hop, and other Latin dances. Amity is the recipient of an Educational Programming Award in Middle Eastern Dance from Thomas College and she is the originator of the Thomas College Dance Company.

Adira by Samuel CousinsAmity is the founder and director of the Raq-ettes, the Twin State's premier Modern Belly Dance Troupe and performs with Vermont's Hypzotika's Belly Dance Circus. She is a member of the International Dance Teachers Association, the Northeast Belly Dance Association, and New England Raqs Sharqi. Amity also produces a regional E-zine and hosts master instructors for workshops and performances in the Vermont and New Hampshire areas. She is a New England bellydance mover and shaker!

Adira, your hostess this evening, is a fearless and mischievous dancer whose name is Arabic for "strong, and moves with grace". A 2007 Maine Arts Commission grantee, Adira teaches popular belly dance classes and has created her own style of fitness class: "Bellyrobics" in Portland, Maine. She is the founding radio DJ of WMPG's popular show "Shaken and Stirred" on Friday mornings.

Drummer Travis Shores Travis Shores has been performing and teaching Middle Eastern and World percussion throughout the Northeast for over a decade with dance troupes and a multitude of musical ensembles.

A traveler, student, performer and teacher of a wide array of both traditional and contemporary cultural styles and drumming techniques, Travis has performed with his friend and mentor, Issam Houshan (Bellydance Superstars, Sting) and for renowned dancer Suhaila Salimpour in Boston MA.

Travis has fostered collaborative relationships with musicians, dancers and scholars throughout the region,leading to percussion guest residencies at Dartmouth College (NH) as well as a close friendship with world-renowned dancer Moria Chappell (Bellydance Superstars).

Travis brings his broad knowledge and expertise to students and audiences, and anywhere there is desire to hear and learn percussion from the heart, through the hand, and into the dancer's body.
